Everything You Need to Know about WoW Dailies

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideWoW dailies are the best way to earn reputation, purchase some must-have items and enchantments, and have a stable way of earning WoW gold. However, sometimes it can be difficult knowing which daily quests to do or which part of Northrend to focus your efforts in. A WoW dailies guide like Dugi’s Dailies and Events Guide can really help you out in this respect. Just start your daily quest effort by asking yourself what will help your character the most right now: gold or reputation?

WoW Dailies for Gold or Reputation

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideThe beautiful thing about some of the WoW dailies is the fact that they earn both reputation and large stacks of gold. Some of the highest paying WoW dailies are located in the Storm Peaks, and they earn you about 13 gold per quest, plus 250 reputation points with the Sons of Hodir. Most classes will need to be exalted with the Sons of Hodir for a variety of reasons. This faction offers shoulder enchants for most classes, in addition to exclusive recipes for some gems and an exclusive tailoring recipe for the glacial bag. The Sons of Hodir daily quests should be among the first ones you do. In fact, you may even be able to begin doing some of them before you reach level 80, as long as you complete the prerequisite quests so you can become friendly with the Sons of Hodir. You won’t be eligible for the WoW dailies for the Sons of Hodir if you are not friendly with them. Also remember that you can keep doing these daily quests for gold even after you reach exalted status with the faction. That 13 gold per quest is among the highest gold dailies in the game.

Just the Reputation

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideIn some cases, you may want to complete some WoW dailies just to earn reputation with a faction. The best way to go about this is to check a reliable WoW dailies guide like Dugi’s Dailies and Events Guide. This will show you where you need to go to earn the reputation you need. Perhaps you’re seeking an achievement for reputation or there is something very specific you need from a smaller faction in the game. These scenarios are no problem at all when you have a WoW dailies guide to help you out.

Just the Gold

If you’re all about earning WoW gold and could care less about reputation, then you can complete any of the WoW dailies you want. However, you may want to focus on the ones that earn you the most gold. The highest paying gold dailies pay out 22 gold per quest, but these quests do require that you have a group of five people. The next step down is 20 gold per quest, and most of these are solo dailies that are available in the Sholazar Basin area. The next step down is 13 gold per quest, and these are available in Sholazar Basin, the Storm Peaks, and the Icecrown Skybreaker.

Daily Quest Guide for World of Warcraft

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideWorld of Warcraft players have been writing various guides for the game since it began, and this constant desire for information keeps all of us wanting more guides about pretty much anything with the game. Many players are already very familiar with the 1-80 leveling guides and profession leveling guides, and now there’s even a new guide for instance leveling. However, one area that some players overlook is the daily quest guide. After all, as soon as you reach level 80, you stop doing quests, right?

WoW Dailies for Gold

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideActually, many players do stop questing at level 80, but the fact is that there are so many bonuses to be earned through daily quests. For one thing, daily quests provide a reliable source of income for the player who got all the way to level 80 without saving any gold up. Of course you don’t really need a lot of gold before you reach level 80, but you should still make efforts to save it up as you level. However, even the small amount of gold you save as you go won’t be enough to support your level 80 character. You will constantly be looking for gear upgrades, and some of your gear will need to be crafted. You will also need plenty of gold to spend on enchantments and gems to enhance your gear. You won’t believe how much gold you’ll end up spending just to get your toon geared enough to enter Icecrown Citadel, where all the top level gear will drop off of the bosses.

Daily Quests for Professions

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideAnother reason you will need to keep doing daily quests is if you have certain professions. Jewel crafting does require you to complete daily quests in order to earn rare gems and patterns. Also cooking and fishing require daily quests, especially if you want to get the recipes for the fish feast, which is commonly needed for raids.

Daily Quests for Reputation

Another common reason for running daily quests is to earn reputation with the various factions on World of Warcraft. Reputation allows you to purchase special designs and recipes for your profession, in addition to enchantments you won’t be able to get anywhere else. There is even a quest chain and set of dailies to earn the right to purchase one of the fastest mounts in the game. Purchasing the Netherdrake requires an exalted status with the Netherwing.

Before you begin your daily quest routine, figure out what your character needs the most. If you’re a new level 80, then a great place to begin is with the daily quests in the Storm Peaks. These quests earn you a decent amount of gold, in addition to earning you reputation with the Sons of Hodir, a faction which every class and race can benefit from being exalted with. You’ll want to consult a WoW dailies guides to determine which faction would help you the most if you were exalted with it.

Dailies Guide for Gold Farming

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideDaily quests are an important part of World of Warcraft. They’re used for gold farming, reputation farming, and professions. Dailies are the quests that appear as a blue exclamation point instead of the standard gold one, and they can be done once a day, every day. Each of your characters can complete up to 25 daily quests per day, so you’ll want to pick and choose which ones you complete.

All daily quests will grant you some gold, but some will grant you more gold than others. Here’s a quick dailies guide for gold farming to help you pick out the daily quests that bring in the most gold. The highest paying gold dailies pay out 22 gold, but they do require having four other people to complete them, so we’re focusing this dailies guide on daily quests you can complete on your own.

Dailies Guide for Sholazar Basin

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideEach of the daily quest areas in Northrend have about the same number of dailies available, but Sholazar Basin has a couple of quests that do pay 20 gold. There are 15 gold farming dailies in Sholazar Basin, although seven of them only pay 6 gold each. However, three of the gold farming dailies in Sholazar Basin do pay 20 gold, and the rest of them pay 13 gold each. This makes Sholazar Basin one of the highest ranking places for gold farming through daily quests. Just remember to check both of the two daily quest areas in Sholazar Basin. They are the Rainspeaker Canopy and Frenzyheart Hill. One good thing about these two areas is that you will also earn reputation with either the Oracles or the Frenzyheart Tribe.

Dailies Guide for the Storm Peaks

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideIf you’re looking for consistency as far as gold earned per daily quest, then you should check out the Storm Peaks. There are 13 daily quests available in the Storm Peaks, and most of them pay 13 gold each. Most of the dailies in the Storm Peaks are located in either Dun Niffelem or Brunnhildar Village, but there is also one located in K3 and one located in Frosthold. Completing the dailies in the Storm Peaks is a nice way to do several quests all at once and walk away with some nice bank in a short amount of time. Another note about the quests in the Storm Peaks is that most of them earn you reputation with the Sons of Hodir.

Dailies Guide for Icecrown Skybreaker

Another great place to do gold farming through daily quests is the Icecrown Skybreaker area. There are 11 daily quests on the Skybreaker, although two of them do require groups of five people. Those two pay out 22 gold, while the other 9 quests can be done on your own and pay out 13 gold each. The nice thing about the Skybreaker is that all of these quests are located in a rather small area, so there’s less time running around and gathering up your daily quests.

Completing Your WoW Dailies as Quickly as Possible

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideHow quickly do you think you could complete your daily quests on World of Warcraft? How about two hours? That’s the power of good WoW dailies guide like Dugi’s Dailies and Events Guide. A daily quest guide is a valuable tool that any World of Warcraft player can benefit from.

Each character can only complete 25 daily quests per day, so you will have to pick and choose the WoW dailies you want to do. You should begin by setting your priorities. Think about what your character needs next, and then go from there. If you’re a new level 80, then you will probably want to look for dailies that grant both reputation and gold. The Sons of Hodir daily quests in the Storm Peaks are a great place to start because virtually all classes can benefit from an exalted status with the Sons of Hodir.

Help Planning Your Routes

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideOne of the most important things you can do when planning a strategy for daily quests is to plan your route. You can’t be effective if you don’t have a plan laid out, and you’ll lose valuable minutes by not planning ahead. A WoW dailies guide will help you figure out which daily quests will benefit you the most and help you lay them out so you can get them done in a timely fashion.

A Complete Breakdown of All the Dailies

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideAnother very helpful part of a WoW dailies guide is the breakdown of all the daily quests that are available. It is very difficult to choose which daily quests will help you out the most if you don’t know the benefits of each one, so looking at a complete breakdown is vital to determining which ones you should do. All of the daily quests are a great, stable way to make gold, but some of the WoW dailies will earn you more gold than others. A good WoW dailies gold will help you make sure that the gold dailies you run are maximizing the amount of gold you make on a daily basis.

The Reputation Grind

Another important part of running daily quests is farming for reputation, and not all classes and races will benefit from earning reputation with the same factions. For example, melee DPS will want to build up reputation with Knights of the Ebon Blade, but tanks will prefer to build up reputation with the Argent Crusade. This is because these two factions each offer a very helpful enchantment, but the enchantments they offer are only good for DPS and tanking classes respectively.

Also some factions are in opposition to each other, so checking out your WoW dailies guide will help you make sure you’re not working on reputation for two factions that detract from each other. One example of this is in Sholazar Basin, where completing the daily quests for the Frenzyheart Tribe will cause you to lose reputation with the Oracles, and vice versa.

A Dailies Guide for World of Warcraft

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideIf you haven’t taken advantage of the daily quests on World of Warcraft, then you’re missing out on a lot of important bonuses, gear, and enchantments. Many players believe that they should stop doing quests altogether the moment they reach level 80. However, level 80 should be the time to really focus on doing daily quests to earn gold and reputation with various factions. Of course you’ll always need gold to purchase crafted gear, gems, and enchanting materials so you can gear up to run Icecrown Citadel, and WoW dailies give you a steady source of income, which is perfect for those players who just don’t understand the auction house system very much. Running WoW dailies can earn you an average of 300 gold for running all of your daily quests. Each character can run 25 quests per day, and many of them pay an average of 13 gold per quest.

The Importance of Reputation

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideOne thing that’s often overlooked on World of Warcraft is reputation. It may seem like reputation just isn’t worth the time, but there are some factions that have rewards which make it very helpful to have an exalted status with them. Reputation isn’t too important as you’re leveling, but when you reach level 80, you’re going to need to purchase special enchantments from certain factions. Even enchanters will want to work on their reputation with these factions because the enchantments offered as rewards cannot be handed out by enchanters.

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guideOne of the first reputations you should work on through your WoW dailies is the Sons of Hodir. These daily quests are located in the Storm Peaks area, and you may even have completed some of them while you were leveling your character. The Sons of Hodir offer enchantments for pretty much every class, in addition to special gem designs for jewel crafters, rare and epic mounts, and the tailoring pattern for the 22-slot glacial bag. To purchase any of the rewards from the Sons of Hodir, just visit the quartermaster in the Storm Peaks area.

Planning Your Route

Since you’re able to do 25 daily quests per day, you might be wondering just how quickly you can get them done. After all, you probably don’t want to spend all day playing World of Warcraft, no matter how much you enjoy the game. However, you can actually get your WoW dailies done in two hours or less if you plan your route carefully. You can’t waste any time traveling between daily quests, so you’ve got to do as many of them in one area at the same time as you possibly can. It’s really not a bad idea to check out a WoW dailies guide like Dugi’s Dailies and Events Guide. Getting started with a regular daily quest routine can be overwhelming, but a WoW dailies guide can really help you sort out your thoughts and figure out how to create a speed gold run.

Druid - Nature’s Defender

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guide

Druids are not regular nature-loving beings. They have great powers and use the power given to them in various ways. They are shape shifters that can fill in any role as a spell casting damage dealer or healer, a tank or a melee damage dealer. The Druid can only be chosen by Tauren and Night Elf players.

They are capable to transform into a Bear or Dire Bear form which increases both hit points and armor and gives them some nice tanking abilities which can be used with the use of Rage which on its turn can be gained by dealing and receiving damage. They will receive several abilities that create a high amount of threat. The nice thing about a Druid tank is that they are capable to still do great amounts of damage compared to in example a Warrior tank.

If needed the Druids can also transform into Cat form which makes a Tauren change into a Lion, and a Night Elf into a Panther. In this form their attacks can be used with the use of Energy. In Cat form they receive some nice damaging abilities and their way of fighting can be compared to the Rogue’s fighting system, including combo points and finishing moves. Both the Bear and Cat form are boosted if one spends talents in the Feral talent tree of the Druid.

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guide

Melee damage is not the only type of damage a Druid can do. He also can be a great spell caster using both Nature and Arcane based spells. The Balance talent tree should be followed if you want to be a powerful spell casting damage dealer. In this talent tree, you will also be able to place a talent into the Moonkin and Improved Moonkin form. When this talent is chosen, the Druid can transform into a Moonkin, a big creature of the night, famous for his Britney Spears’ dance J. This form not only looks nice but also gives the player some nice boosts like a Spell Critical Strike Bonus, Armor, Haste Rating and bonus Spellpower. Most of these bonuses also apply on party members which makes a Moonkin a great addition to each group and raid.

wow warcraft alliance horde

leveling guide

Then there are the Restoration Druids. The Restoration Druids are great healers and have the most Heal over Time (HoT) spells available of all healer classes. They also have several instant heals (panic buttons). The Resto Druid focuses on healing and should max out the Restoration Talent tree. At some point one will be able to choose a form called Tree of Life. In this Form he will give a bonus to all healing done on targets in a group or raid. All HoTs can be cast at reduced costs in this form and also the power of the healing spells will be increased. He will also receive some bonus armor.

Then there are the Traveling Form and Sea Lion Form that can be obtained at lower levels. These Forms increase the run and swim speed of the Druid which is very nice for leveling and even handy when the level cap is hit. Lastly there is the Flight Form which instantly transforms the Druid into a flying bird. Nice about this is that this form can be obtained at level 68.

The advantage of a playing a Druid is that you can change your build when you get bored with one and turn your tank into a healer and back etc. whenever you like. You will not get bored easily with this character. Even as a DPS Druid you can still switch forms to heal or resurrect somebody with your combat rez. The disadvantage of Druid might also be his advantage. Being capable to do so many things might be the reason that he doesn’t excel at something like tanking, like a Warrior does, or healing like a Priest.

Onyxia Revamped in 3.2.2, Arena Changes and more – World of Warcraft

For the 5th year anniversary, the brood mother Onyxia is having a comeback and return back in the forefront of Azeroth as part of the upcoming 3.2.2 patch!

This will convert the Onyxia’s Lair into a 10 and 25-player dungeon. New items will be added, mainly looking like good ol’ Tier 2 Set items (Helms). Additional to the new loot, she will also be dropping a 310% flying mount, which looks like Onyxia herself and called “Onyxia Broodling”. The Encounter mechanic will also be updated to be more on level of modern Wrath of the Lich King raiding (I’m just unsure if this is such an good idea :P). But Blizzard said, that deep breath will still remain. So have fun with raiding her with casuals to stupid to run away and die in the breath.

Arena Rating Cap

3k Arena Rating will be removed, so the rating cap won’t be an issue for the end of this season.

Arena Matchmaking System 3.2

Dugi's Ultimate World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King PvP and Leveling Guide

The 5 time additional queue was hotfixed today and lowered to 2 minutes. It was the time which was added to your normal queue to play against a team you just played against (It’s made to prevent people form having to fight each other several times in a row, especially in nightly matches, where most people where sleeping and block down cheating the rankings).

Battleground Experience Gain

This is something we’re watching very closely and right now we’d be inclined to agree that there are some battlegrounds where we may need to boost the amount of experience awarded. However, that isn’t to say that all battlegrounds are less than they should be. Still, we are looking at adjusting the experience sometime in the near future. (Source)

Crusader title

Nothing like this was removed in patch 3.2, everything is still obtainable. Yes, something like the Crusader title still takes a lot of time and a lot of daily quests to get through, but it’s still sitting there and waiting for you. (Source)

Balancing Arena Brackets

Dugi's Ultimate World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King PvP and Leveling Guide

It’s not, in our mind, an issue on which bracket is the most balanced. It comes down to which bracket is the most balance-able.

The 2s bracket has two flaws built into its design. One is that it tends to select for those classes who have a lot of different options and utility built into one class. Since your team is just one other guy, and he or she is often going to be focused or CC’d, you can’t rely so much on your teammate’s abilities. You have to rely on your own abilities. What players kept asking for, and the direction we realized we were taking, was just to give more and more abilities to more and more classes so that everyone had everything. We don’t think that’s good for class design long term. Arena is intended to be about teamwork not self-sufficiency.

The second problem is the relative balance of power of healing. If a healer can keep themselves and one other person alive in 2s, then they probably can’t keep three people alive in 3s. That tends to squeeze healers out of 3s. On the other hand, if a healer can keep a three-player team alive, then they can probably keep a two-player team alive trivially.

We didn’t remove the 2s bracket from the game. If you like it, it’s still there for you. But we wanted to be able to focus more of our balance effort on the 3s bracket and wanted more of the high-end potential gladiators to focus their balance feedback and effort on that bracket as well.

…Think about it this way. We offer 10 and 25-player raids in the hopes that players who like smaller groups or larger groups can both find something that suits them. We could take that to extremes and also offer a 15-player raid or still offer 40-player raids too. But the more of these options we add, the more effort it takes to balance them all and the bigger chance that something will break at one of the extremes.

We think 3s and 5s will ultimately offer a better play experience. But we have supported 2s for a few years now and some players have grown to enjoy them, so we thought it was overly harsh to just cut them from the game. (Source)

[Mage]Ghostcrawler on buffing Arcane

I said we wanted to buff Arcane but wanted to do so without adding back some of the fast burst damage that we have worked hard to reduce in PvP. We agree that it’s worth changing things that can be really frustrating to play against even if it doesn’t reward the other guy with high representation or ratings. (Source)

[Priest]Glyph of Mind Flay

Dugi's Ultimate World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King PvP and Leveling Guide

I’m almost positive that the way it works is the glyph leaves a 10% snare on Mind Flay today on live (the glyph didn’t change in 3.2). The reason is because we thought it might cause a lot of bugs related to whether a target was officially snared or not. A 10% snare isn’t particularly useful but it is noticeable.

What we’re talking about is changing the glyph to not affect the default snare at all. The glyph would just boost range. (Source)

[Warlock]Ghostcrawler on buffing Demonology

The context was how do you find 3 distinct niches for a dps class such that each of the trees has its moment to feel special and shine yet over the course of a raid tier, all 3 feel like they do about the same dps. That’s a really challenging goal.

It wasn’t a “buff Demo” discussion as much as what the roles should be for pure dps talent trees, unless you fall back on the classic “PvP, PvE and the spec nobody takes.”

If we buffed Demonology, and we buffed it too much (even if it was only on some fights) then what you’d probably see is most raiding warlocks shift to Demo. This is exactly what happened when we made Survival better than Beastmaster. What does that really accomplish other than giving players whiplash and perhaps giving those players who really just love a certain spec a little bit of time in the sun? (Source)

Midsummer Fire Event: The Flame Warden Event Guide – World of Warcraft

Midsummer Fire Festival is close, so here comes the next guide. In the first part I’d post all the know locations of the fires. As of now, most of them are based on last years event. The chances are next to zero that there are some significant changes in the event/achievements.

For the moment, they aren’t sorted or optimized for the shortest route. I have much to do at the moment and I’ll try to find some more time to calculate the optimal route and update the guide according to this.

**) This entries are objective of the King of the Fire Festival achievement.

This covers majority of the achievements from Midsummer World event, like:Dugi's Ultimate World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King PvP and Leveling Guide

if you’re Alliance and the below ones if you’re Horde:

King of the Fire Festival

The King of the Fire Festival achievement is one of the easier one and can usually got by doing the achievements above. Basically you just have to walk into the enemy city, use the big fires there. Once you got all three you can start a quest to turn them in. Will add screenshots, when i got some time.

Burning Hot Pole Dance (link)

There is not much to say. Find a pole, target it and dance.

Ice the Frost Lord (link)

Summon and kill Lord Ahune - The Frost Lord in Slave Pens. He spawns an Ice Chest after his death which contains Shards of Ahune. This starts a quest which can be turned in to get one of two tabards.

However, I’m pretty sure there was some pre-quest. I think it was a quest called Unusual Activity which is give by Earthen Ring Elder which can be found at any capital city near the fires.

Torch Juggler

40 torches in 15 seconds. Pretty easy one, just get 40 Juggling Torch by doing Torch Catching daily quest. A good hint: Enable shadows (at least step 1 or 2). Then all you need to do is, toss the torch. The shadow will tell you where it will land so just place your character below it.

Once you got enough, drag them to a free and easy accessible action button (for example on the action button which is bound to 1-key). Then simply spam it while selecting a target in the world (you get a small circle like in AoE spells).

Achievements

As Ignis the Furnace Master, the Razorscale encounter is also tied to some Achievements.

Heroic

Normal

  • A Quick Shave - Defeat Razorscale without allowing her to fly into the air more than once on Normal Difficulty.
  • Iron Dwarf, Medium Rare - Defeat 25 Dark Rune Guardian Dwarves with Razorscale's Flame Breath on Normal Difficulty.

The Encounter

The Razorscale encounter is split up in to two phases.

Phase 1Dugi's Ultimate World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King PvP and Leveling Guide

In the first Phase, Razorscale will be in the air. While flying, she will bomb the raid with Devouring Flame and Fireball. During this phase, the friendly Dwarf NPCs will collect mechanical parts on the ground and repair the nearby turrets.

After the repairs are done, the NPCs will chain Razorscale and stun her for a few seconds. This repeats until she’s at 50% of her HP

Phase 2

Once Razorscale is on 50%, Phase 2 will emerge. Razorscale will land and you have to beat her on the ground. She will keep Devouring Flame and get 3 new abilities: Flame Buffet, Flame Breath and Wing Buffet.

Tactic and Setup

Setup (25)

  • It's recommended to use 4 tanks for this encounter, as there are 4 zones where the adds spawns.
  • 6 Healers are absolute minimum, if you're in full T7 gear. Probably 7, if you're guild isn't top equipped
  • Take a good balance of Melee and Range damage dealers. While melees can't do good on the boss but they do good on the add spawns. Having ranged damage dealers is good too for the Dark Rune Sentinels, as they can pretty one-shot anything that's no tank.

Setup (10)

  • 2 Tanks
  • 2 Healers
  • 2 Melees DDs
  • 4 Ranged DDs
  • 1 Shaman for Heroism (either as Healer, melee or Ranged DD)

Phase 1 (Air)

Start the encounter by talking to the expedition commander. Your task is to defend the NPCs while they are repairing the turrets. Your focus lies on killing all the adds and avoiding the devouring flames from Razorscale. You have to move immediately out of it, if you got hit to avoid to getting to much damage.

There are 4 zones (on normal only two) where adds spawn and you need tanks in any of them.

The Dark Rune Sentinels (390.600 HP) hit for 9.000 on Plate and 30.000 on Cloth. So it's vital to tank them as far as away from the raid as possible and nuke them from range.

The Dark Rune Watchers ( 221.800 HP) are casting Chain Lightenings on the raid which hit for 10.000 damage. They have a very high range, but can be interrupted. This being said, it's obviously that you should interrupt them whenever possible. Best is to make a rotation, so no interrupts are wasted.

One very often reason for players dying is the combo of Fireball and Lightening Chain, where each hits for approx. 10.000 damage. So they need to be keep up at least at 80% Health Points.

The Dark Rune Guardians (277.200 HP) doesn't seem to have anything special, just tank and spank them.

All adds also get additonal damage if they are inside the Devouring Flame area of effect, so if you place them good (so the adds are inside the AoE and your DDs outside), it can quicken up this phase pretty much. Dark Rune Watchers are somewhat harder to get in, as they often stop for casting.

As the turrets get repaired you can start using them. They will fire a harpoon and chaining Razorscale. Once all 4 are repaired and fired, Razorscale will come to the ground. Once on ground, she will be stunned shortly. At this time, blow up all your cooldowns for maximum dps. The ground phase last ~30 seconds, so it's perfect time for Heroism/Bloodlust + blowing up all cooldowns.

If you don't get her to 50% before she flies up again, repeat the process.

Phase 2 (Ground)

When you get her below 50%, she will land permanently. Let the tank her away from the raid (she shouldn't be facing the raid) to avoid her breathing in the raid (we already know this from other dragons, don't we?). From now on it's a simple tank and spank fight and just avoid devouring flame.

Only important thing here is: DPS. The more dps you have, the less Flame Buffet your tank has, the less damage he takes, so high dps is very important here.

She has an enrage timer of 10 minutes.

Hard Mode

Hard Mode consits by getting her to 50% in only one grounding/stun phase in Phase 1. So you need to stack dps, max dps and blow the shit out of her before he flies up again.

Ulduar: Mimiron Boss Strategy Guide - World of Warcraft

General Information

Mimiron is the 8th Ulduar Boss. He is a multi-boss fight, read: You fight several bosses. In every phase, you fight one different appearance of Mimiron.

  • Leviathan MKII: ~6.900.000 Health Points (1.740.000 HP on Normal)
  • VX-001: ~6,900,000 Health Points (1.740.000 HP on Normal)
  • Aerial Command Unit: ~4,700,000 Health Points (1.600.000 HP on Normal)
  • Assault Bot
  • Bomb Bot
  • Trash Bot
  • V0-L7R-0N (MKII) 3,450,000 HP (870,000 HP on normal)

As last, you have to beat all of the 3 previous forms once again, at the same time (with 50% of their original health). That’s basically 18.500.000 Health Points (3.340.000 HP on normal) for the units plus half that in his Phase 4 to 27.750.000 Health Points to beat him completely.

  • Not-So-Friendly Fire - Force Mimiron to kill a Assault Bot with a Rocket Strike on Normal Difficulty.
  • Firefighter - Defeat Mimiron after activating his Self-Destruct mechanism on Normal Difficulty.

The Encounter

There are 4 phases. In the first 3 Phases you fight Mimiron in his vehicles. In the last phase, all 3 vehicles will join together to a single enemy (but still all 3 previous vehicles are targetable) called V0-L7R-0N. Just like in Transformers!

The goal: Kill all 3 parts of Mimiron at the same time (or very close to each other)

Tactic and Setup

Phase 1 (Leviathan MKII)

Standard spank and tank fight. Best way to do him is to tank him in the middle of the room and have the damage dealers spread around him.

One think to take care is, that the ranged damage dealers are at least 15 yards away from each other to prevent Shock Blast hitting more than 1 person. From time to time some mines will spawn. Simply ignore them/avoid them and don’t waste your time disarming them.

Phase 2 (VX-001 Antipersonnel Assault Cannon)

In this phase your raid has to spread out and fill out the whole room. It’s important that the healers are placed good so they can heal everyone and that there are no players out of range of their healers.

You also have to watch out for the rockets. The rockets are targeting an area on the ground. However, you don’t see a mark on the ground. So if you see a rocket flying in your direction: MOVE OUT! 5-10 yards is enough, the AoE range is quite low!

Sometimes he may also use P3Wx2 Laser Barrage. He will start spinning. When this happens, move behind the boss, to avoid the damage from this attack.

Update: Currently there seems to be a little bug/exploit you can use, to cancel P3Wx2 Laser Barrage. However, it doesn't work always. The trick is, if he target's someone (he will look in that's persons direction) and prepare for P3Wx2 Laser Barrage, you can do Feign Death, Invisible, Vanish, Shadowmeld and similar Skills, which will cause them to cancel the attack. Also if he targets temporary NPCs (like Shadowfiend, Elemental etc) with it and they die before the preparation is done, the attack will be canceled too.

Phase 3 (Aerial Command Unit)

Requirements: Ranged Tank and someone to kite him

An soul-link warlock would be perfect for this task. Let him build up some agro before the ranged damage dealers start attacking. Good measure is to wait until the first adds were spawned.

The adds spawn randomly inside the room and are marked by a spotlight. The color of the spotlight indicate which mob will spawn there.

Orange = Assault Bot

Orange bots need to be kited by an ranged damage dealer (Hunters and Mage are good for it). Mage is much more preferred in this case, with specced frost bolt so he can keep him slowed down without assistance of others. Once the person who kite him has enough agro, open fire and shoot it down.

It's very important to focus him down as soon as possible (before next one spawns). Don't root him, as this can cause the Assault Bots to attack your melees. The Assaults Bot immoblizing spell (prevents his current target from moving, is channeled and lasts 4 seconds) can be interrupted, kicked, dispelled etc. If nothing ready, use Deathknights Freeze skill to slow him down.

Update: There are also some other ways to avoid/remove his channeled "root" skill. For example Feign Death, Cloak of Shadows, Vanish. Problably works with PvP Trinket and Invisible too. Remind this, as it can save your (or your raidmates) life and for this encounter, you need every piece of damage dealer and healer.

Green = Junk Bot or Bomb Bot

This is the task for the “regular” tanks. You only need to tank the Junk Bots. The Bomb bots will just run around and blow up after a while and make sure that you don’t get hit by the explosion!

Update: Seems like the Bomb bots doesn't explode by themselves. But there is a very nice tactic on how to avoid your raid to be blow up by them. Usually there should only one Bomb bot active. So all you need to is to slow it down or root it (i.e. roots from Druid, Frostnova from Mage or with Hunter traps) and wait until the damage on the raid/tanks is moderately. Then have a tank move to the Bomb bot and taunt/hit it (be sure that before you let the bomb explode, no one other than the tank is in it's explosion raidus).

This way only the tank takes damage and all others can concentrate on the Boss/Assault Bots. If done correctly, there won't me much damage on the raid as Assault Bots only do melee damage and 1 hit everything that's to close. So only damage is on the Warlock tank and the tank who tanks the Junk Bots.

After the Assault bot dies, it will drop an magnetic core. This core has to be used below the boss. It will get him down to the ground and your melee damage dealers can finally hit the boss. It lasts only 6 seconds, so make sure to blow up your cooldowns at that moment, to shorten the phase as much as possible. One reason to blow up the cooldowns there is, that the damage is increased while he’s on the ground.

You have to time this phse correctly. Best pot to trigger it, when the Assault Bot is down (if you lack on DPS, do it when the Assault Bot is at 10% or so). Another good tip is, if you trigger this, let your ranged dps do a few hits on him (DoTs or some instants like Explosive Shot) for some extra damage and then fire at the Assault Bot again.

Note: It’s helpful to set the loot to Free-For-All, so everyone can loot the core and speed up the process (same as the core with Lady Vahsj in Serpentshrine Caverns).

Repeat this steps, until the boss is down.

Phase 4 (V0-L7R-0N)

In this phase, the boss turns all the previous “mini-bosses” into one big mecha: V0-L7R-0N (Transformers inc!). The 3 V0-L7R-0N components will have half the Health Points they had in the phases 1-3.

One thing to notice is, that in this phase no adds will be spawned.

  • The Aerial Combat Unit from Phase 3 still needs to be tanked by the ranged tank (the Soulink-Warlock is still the best choice).
  • The Leviathan MKII has to be tanked too by a tank (preferably the one who tanked him in Phase 1 too)
  • V0-L7R-0N will cast P3Wx2 Laser Barrage more often than in Phase 2
  • Avoid the rockets (same as Phase 2 too)
  • You have to avoid the mines

This alone sounds easy, but the trick is to kill all 3 components at the same time, otherwise they will repair themselves. So in order to achieve this, do damage to all parts until they are somewhere close to 5-6% and then split the damage dealers in your raid.

Let the Melees focus on the Leviathan MKII and the VX-001, while the ranged damage dealers focus on the Aerial Combat Unit.

Most cooldowns should be ready again. Once all are at 5-6%, start damage them equally and fire up the cooldowns (which should be ready again, at least some of the shorter ones). It’s unlikely the fight will last long enough to use Heroism for a second time.

Hard Mode

Hard Mode is quite similar to the normal way to beat him. To start the Hard Mode, you have to press a red switch on the back side of the room to start the “emergency mode”. The boss will get 25% more Health Points and deal 25% more damage.

Additional to that, you have to beat him in less than 8 minutes!
