Warhammer Online: Stacking Standard buffs exploit

There is an exploit with the Warhammer Guildstandards. The Battlestandard on the keep is giving out a buff to everyone near the keep. If you run in and out of the keep range, the buff will stack up. If you're having Toughness, Armor and Initiative in your Standard, then you can stack them up to a reasonable high amount which will reduce the damage you receive by a great amount making defending of the keep ridiculous easy!

Darkfall Online: No more leaks... for now at least (Update)

The reason I removed the Darkfall leaks is, due to the recent disappearance of an other blog which was removed approximately 25 minutes ago. So until the situation is cleared, I've removed all the posts.

Update: The posts are back again. The reason for the temporary removal was due to the removal of one of the other blogs, as we didn't know the reasons behind it. But as it seems the guy deleted was a drama queen and had a fit.

Darkfall Online: Report from a Leaker - Part 1

The amount of reports from Darkfall Online grows every day, so here is today's report:

First login.

The thing that I noticed when I logged into Darkfall for the first time was that the graphics were actually pretty good. They weren't great, and I don't like the art direction, but the actual graphic quality is decent.

The thing that I didn't like right away was that all of the races look like caricatures of player models. Everything is oversized and ugly. If the rest of the game world was done in this oversized art style it would make sense, but since it's just the character models. They look out of place.

One other visual complaint that I have is the fact that when models are in front of each other they get this black outline around them. You can see what I mean in the screenshot to the right.

So I created my character and logged in.

After the game loaded I tried to look around but mouse look was so laggy that I had to adjust my settings before I could even start playing. Pressing mouse2 brings up the menu and a mouse cursor so you can click on the options. Clicking mouse2 again goes back to the default crosshair view.

Ok, so "Smooth mouse look" is on by default. That would explain the laggy feeling. Nope, still lagging, but not as bad. Next thing that I did was turn down the graphics settings. I have a Quad Core Intel processor and an 8800 GT video card. Not top of the line, but I haven't had any issues running Lord of the Rings at almost full settings and Darkfall's graphics are subpar to LOTRO. So this surprised me.

Once I got the graphics optimized I had to fix the keybindings. The default setup is... odd. Ok, now that that's done let's explore.
I equipped my leaf blade and started runni... er... walking around town. What's this? No running?

Ah. Ok, there's a sprint button. Holding down the sprint button makes you run faster. From what I could tell it doesn't really lower your stamina much, if at all, unless you are fighting, so that's good, I suppose. It's kind of a pain in the neck holding down a button all the time though.

So I ran around town a little bit, checked out the merchants. Lots of potential equipment to purchase, but I have no gold right now. Hey look, there's someone sitting on the ground! I know that there are guard towers in the starting towns so I figure I am going to die when I attack this guy, but what the hell, I'd like to see what happens. I sneak up behind the person and stick my sword into his back. As soon as I did that the guard towers started shooting laser beams. Really? Laser beams? After a few shots I fall unconscious and then I lost connection to the server.

When I logged back in I was at 100% health so I ventured off into the wilderness to find something / someone to kill.

(Sorry I don't have any screenshots of me fighting right now, I was trying to get some tonight but the game kept disconnecting me.)

After literally 10 minutes of running around I find 2 guys killing a goblin. I guess this is a goblin camp so I wait around for respawn. No respawn for 5 minutes so I ventured off over a nearby hill. Here I found some trolls. Or, more accurately, some trolls found me. I manage to kill one and try to run away from the 2nd. Luckily I still have a little bit of stamina left and am able to sprint away.

Now I'm just standing near a tree waiting for my health to recover. Nothing is happening. I assume there's a rest button or skill so I go looking through the skill list. Bingo, "Rest".
I drag the rest skill into the hotbar, click the corresponding number, click mouse1 and voila I'm resting. Supposedly you are very vulnerable in this mode so I was constantly looking around me to make sure no one was close.

But wait, nothing is happening still. It's been about 10 seconds and I still haven't regained any... oh.. wait. I think I just saw a microscopic sliver of health regenerate. Let me wait a few more seconds. Yep, it's regenerating all right.

A good 2 minutes later I'm about 90% full on health and stamina so I get up and go back to the troll area. I loot the gravestone (what, no corpse?) of the troll and get 18 gold. Wow. Some of the weapons I saw were hundreds of gold. Are you kidding me? So I go find another troll and engage it. Everything is going good until it's about to die. The troll suddenly turns and takes of running, so I chase after it. I manage to catch up to it by sprinting up almost all of my stamina. I just have enough for a few hits to kill it. I'm currently about 50% health and 0% stamina. As I'm looting the gravestone another troll comes out of nowhere and starts bashing me with his fists.

Oh yea, another thing. I haven't seen any monsters use weapons yet, but they all have weapons when they die.

Anyway, I can't do anything. I'm completely out of stamina so it kills me. I lie on the ground dying for a few minutes and then someone comes along and revives me. "Thanks!" I say.

Back to resting. 5 minutes later I'm full on health and stamina. So, right now I have been logged into the game for almost a hour and I have made 18 gold.

That was my first day. I was pretty bored at this point so I logged off.

My thoughts:

The game is slow. I mean sssllllooooowwwwww. Everything in the game feels like a grind.
Looking for monsters takes a long time, fighting takes a long time. The game is heavily group focused (it has to be, it's next to impossible to solo anything) but I could not find an easy way to start a group or to find members. It also strikes me as odd that a seemingly group focused game has group friendly fire.

Darkfall has a very old school MMO feel to it. I don't mean that in a good way. You get thrown into the game with no direction at all and just kind of fumble around until you can figure some things out. UO it definitely is not. First off, in UO you could start your character with at least 1 decent skill and two ok skills and earn enough gold by yourself the first hour to at least afford a GM katana and some GM leather armor from a local player merchant.

At the rate I was going it was going to be 7-8 hours of game time to even buy an upgraded weapon. Hardly the disposable equipment the game was supposed to have. But, of course, I'm still a noob and it very well might get easier as I start to gain skills. These are just my first impressions of the game.

I didn't really have fun the whole time I was logged in. Maybe Darkfall isn't going to be the game for me but I will continue to make an attempt at least to continue these blog entries.

World of Warcraft: "Why? Because It's Red" Achievement made easy exploit

For all people who were out of luck in Classic World of Warcraft, or started with Burning Crusade there is a pretty nice exploit how you can farm this mount for the Feat of Strength.

All you need is 2 people,  1 healer and 2 damage dealer. Make a raid group, go into the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and first kill the pat there. Then go for the 4 others. Kill 3 of them, and run out.

Important: Only kill 3 of them! Leave the last one alive!!

Once you're out of the instance, they will reset. Now you can go back inside, loot the dead 3 NPCs. In the meantime all 4 are respawned again. Kill 3 of them, run out and repeat until the Red Mount drops. With this trick you don't need to go with 20-30 people and clear the Temple of Ahn'Qiraji completely and you can kill apporximately 3 mobs/5 min with 2 people. In most cases it should take 1-2 hours until it drops, if you're luck earlier (when you're not lucky it may take many hours, but when it drops it's yours and you dont need to compete against 15-20 others)

World of Warcraft: Alchemy 1-450 Leveling Guide

With the newest expantion World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, the proffesions got overhauled. One of the great changes is, that Flasks now will last 4 instead of 2 hours if you have Alchemy maxed out, which can save you 1000's of gold in the long term, as you'd only need 1 Flask per 4 hour raid

Example: A Wrath of the Lich King flask costs ~80-90g on most servers. If you're rading 3 days per week, that: 90*3*4 = 1080g in only one month or up to 13.000g in one year! Not taking into account, that you get Flasks or free if you chose to specialize in the Elixir Mastery.

This guilde will show you the fastest and easiest way to get from 1 to 450 skill in Alchemy. You'll need many herbs so prepare before starting, by either buying them from auction of if it's to exepnsive farm them yourself (or with one of your alts).

For this you will need:

For 1-50 you should be making minor healing potions. Create 60 healing potions, but do not sell them yet. We will need them later in the leveling process. Once you hit skill level 55, talk to the Alchemy trainer to learn Journeyman Alchemist. The minimum level required to learn this is level 10, for the case you're not 70 yet, you should do some leveling.

Alchemy 50 -125

Create 50 Lesser Healing Potions

You will need:
50 Minor Healing Potions
50 Briarthorn

Next we will be using the Minor Healing Potions we made in the last step and create Lesser Healing Potions. We should hit skill level 110, if not you should make some Elixirs of Wisdom.

Elixir of Wisdom Mats:
5 Mageroyal
10 Briarthorn
5 Empty Vials

Hitting skill level 110, talk again with your Alchemy trainer and learn Healing Potion, and brew them until you hit skill level 125.

Create 15 Healing Potions

You will need:
15 Bruiseweed
15 Briarthorn
15 Leaded Vials

Alchemy 125-200

At skill level 125 talk to the Alchemy Trainer again and buy Expert Alchemist Skill. The minimum level required is 20. Next we continue brewing Healing Potions until your skill is at level 140.

Create 15 Healing Potions

You will need:
15 Bruiseweed
15 Briarthorn
15 Leaded Vials

Reaching skill level 140, we begin brewing Lesser Mana Potions until we hit skill level 155.

Create 15 Lesser Mana Potions

You will need:
15 Mageroyal
15 Stranglekelp
15 Empty Vials

At skill level 155 we will switch to Greater Healing Potions and continue until we hit skill level 185.

Create 30 Greater Healing Potions

You will need:
30 Liferoot

At 185 we start brewing Elixir of Agility until we're at skill level 200.

Create 15 Elixirs of Agility

You will need:

At level 200 talk to the Alchemy Trainer once more and learn Artisan Alchemist. It will requires a minimum level of 35.

Now we will continue making Elixirs of Agility until we hit skill level 210.

Create 10 Elixirs of Agility

You will need:

10 Goldthorn
10 Leaded Vials

Next we will be making Elixirs of Defense until we hit skill level 215.

Create 5 Elixirs of Defense

You will need:
5 Wild Steelbloom
5 Goldthorn

Then we will be making Superior Healing Potions until we're at skill level 230.

Create 15  Superior Healing Potions

You will need:

After that we will be making Elixirs of Detect Undead until unit we reach skill level 250.

Alchemy 300-375

Visit a Master Alchemist Trainer and learn Master Alchemist. You must be at least level 60 to be able to learn it. They can be found at:

  • Alchemist Gribble located in the tower at Honor Hold in Hellfire Peninsula.
  • Apothecary Antonivich located in Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula.
  • Lorokeem located in Lower City in Shattrath City.

After that, we will need to brew Volatile Healing Potions until we're at skill level 315.

Create 15 Volatile Healing Potions

You will need:
15 to 20 Golden Sansam
15 to 20 Felweed
15 to 20 Imbued Vials

Next step we will be making Sneaking Potions until we're at skill level 330.

World of Warcraft: Useful Deathknight Macros

For all of you Deathknights out of there, there are a few macros you may find useful in your everyday's (undead) life. Most of this macros are from official World of Warcraft Forums.

Casts the following spells in a sequence, resets on end or you go over 10 seconds without clicking the macro

/castsequence reset=10 Pestilence, Blood Boil, Blood Boil

Pet heal macro

/cast [target=pet] Death Coil 

When you use lichborne you can heal yourself with death coil, cast lichborne then this macro and you are a death knight healer!

/cast [target=self] Death Coil 

Death Grip your target and taunt it

/cast Death Grip 
/cast Dark Command

Death pact your ghoul, while not loseing your current target, maximizing your dps

/cast [target=pet,exists] Death Pact 

One button and you get a BIG rune tap (together with the Rune Tap Heal Exploit, you can increase your healing even further!)

Solo fighitng as frost spec, easy rinse a repeat macro, spam it and it goes threw the spells

Darkfall Online: Another High-Quality Darkfall Leak (13 min)

More and more Darkfall movies are leaking, this time a 13 min long video which shows the PvP and PvE scenes. The major difference in this leaked video is, that it's not uploaded to YouTube but is instead uploaded directly to MegaUpload.

The Video is 13 min long and has a size of 270 MB.

Darkfall Online: New Screenshots and a Video

There are some new Screenshots from Darkfall Online, with graphics set on maximum (~60-80 fps on the leakers machine).

Notice: The clipping plane is set to a quite low value for the current debugging beta and can't be changed, which is the reason for the quite "short" sight range. This will be of course customizable in the release version.
